Hunter Catering Maintenance

Over 40 years of catering equipment maintenance, servicing and repair, now operating under Coles Refrigeration & Air Conditioning. Our dedicated team provides preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs across Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Port Stephens, Maitland and the Hunter Valley.

Catering Equipment Repairs and Preventative Maintenance, Newcastle and the Hunter

In 2022, Coles Refrigeration acquired Hunter Catering Maintenance, bringing a dedicated catering equipment servicing and repair team into the business. A commercial kitchen only earns while its equipment is running, and a combi oven that fails mid service, or a dishwasher that will not reach sanitising temperature, can compromise a full trading period and, in some cases, your food safety compliance. Our team provides same day service response on 98% of breakdowns, plus 24 hour service, to pubs, clubs, restaurants, cafes, bakeries, function centres, aged care facilities and food manufacturers from Newcastle and Lake Macquarie through to Port Stephens, Maitland and the Hunter Valley.

Preventative Maintenance Services For Your Commercial Kitchen

Scheduled preventative maintenance is the more cost effective position. A planned program identifies perished door seals, thermostats drifting out of calibration and scale build up in wash systems before they take equipment out of service. It maintains compliance with Australian food industry standards and converts unpredictable breakdown callouts into a budgeted operating cost.

We service and repair:

  • Combi ovens, convection ovens and gas ovens
  • Commercial dishwashers, glasswashers and conveyor dishwashers
  • Deep fryers, char grills and griddle plates
  • Cooking ranges, induction tops and Asian ranges
  • Boiling pans, pasta cookers and bain maries
  • Commercial microwaves, hot cupboards and cook and hold ovens
  • Cool rooms, display fridges, underbench counters and ice machines

Gas and electrical work is carried out by licensed tradespeople, and our refrigeration technicians are ARCtick licensed. For new equipment, see our catering equipment and commercial refrigeration ranges.

Common Faults We Fix

Most catering equipment failures come back to a short list of causes. We regularly diagnose and repair:

  • Gas burners that will not ignite, or drop out mid service
  • Ovens heating unevenly, or thermostats reading out of calibration
  • Failed elements, ignition leads and flame failure devices
  • Dishwashers not filling, not draining, or failing to reach sanitising rinse temperature
  • Blocked jets, worn wash arms and scale build up
  • Perished door seals, worn hinges and glass that no longer holds heat
  • Refrigeration running but not pulling down to temperature, or icing up
  • Control board and electronic controller faults

Kitchens We Look After

We service commercial kitchens across the Hunter and Central Coast, including pubs and clubs, restaurants and cafes, bakeries, hotels and function centres, aged care and healthcare kitchens, schools, food retailers and food manufacturers. Whatever the setting, the priority is the same: keep your equipment running, your food safe and your doors open.

Hunter Catering Maintenance serviced this region for decades, and if you were one of their customers, you are still in the right place. Call 4957 0221.

FAQs

Most commercial kitchens are best served by a scheduled program of at least two visits a year, with higher volume sites moving to quarterly. Frequency depends on how hard the equipment works, not just its age. A dishwasher in a 300 cover venue and one in a small cafe are on very different curves. We will recommend an interval after looking at your equipment and your trading pattern.

A planned service covers cleaning and inspection, calibration checks on thermostats and controllers, testing of gas and electrical safety devices, replacement of consumable parts such as seals and gaskets, descaling of wash systems, and a written report on anything approaching end of life. The intent is to find faults while they are still cheap to fix.

Coles responds same day on 98% of all breakdowns and offers 24 hour service. When you call, describe what the equipment is doing and we will talk you through the likely cause before we arrive, which often means we turn up with the right part.

Yes. We cover both gas and electrical catering equipment, including servicing, repairs and commissioning of new installations, carried out by licensed tradespeople.

Cost depends on the fault, the part and the equipment. A thermostat or door seal is a straightforward job. A failed control board or compressor is a larger one. We provide obligation free quotes, and a preventative maintenance program is almost always cheaper over a year than paying for the breakdowns it prevents.
